The winter surf season starts off with controversy as the local Surfrider Foundation chapter takes on the issue of a total ban on personal watercraft (i.e. jetskis/waverunners) for use at Mavericks. Are these machines a menace or savior to surfers? Watch surfers towed into waves too big to paddle into and see water rescues in action. The drama unfolds at what some call the heaviest, gnarliest and meanest wave on the planet! Then one of the biggest days ever in California history arrives dubbed 'swell of the century' as waves reach over 80 feet! Did a 100-foot wave really break at Mavericks?
