Sam Raimi US 2002 Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is a teenage science geek sporting a shiny forehead, thick glasses and the inability to speak around the prettiest girl in high school, Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst). His life takes the first of several dramatic turns when a radioactive spider bites him during a field trip to a local laboratory. Soon a pumped-up Peter is kicking everybody's ass, from the class bully's to a professional wrestler's. Drunk on his own power, Peter purposely neglects to apprehend a fleeing criminal - an inaction that has drastic consequences. Chastened, Peter realizes he must use his powers for something bigger than just being a super money-making machine as he had originally planned. Something bigger arrives in the form of super-villain the Green Goblin, played with exuberant menace by Willem Dafoe.
