| Kaena: The Prophecy |
Dirs.Chris Delaporte & Pascal Pinon France 2004
Kaena: The Prophecy
is the first full-length movie from France that uses computer-generated
3D graphics. A fantasy/science-fiction story, Kaena is set in a gigantic
coiling plant named Axis that stretches high above the clouds. At the center
of this strange world is a village whose people are in mortal danger because
Axis is withering and dying. The people beg their gods for help, but to no
avail. To the rescue comes Kaena, a rebellious, high spirited teenage girl
who is compelled by a mysterious force to defy the High Priest and her people's
ancestral beliefs to take the perilous journey through Axis and discover what
dark secrets lie beyond the clouds. Kaena: The Prophecy is part Whale Rider,
part Lara Croft and offers incisive commentary on our current environmental
crisis. Featuring the voices of Kirsten Dunst, Anjelica Huston and Richard Harris.
