| Peaceable Kingdom |
Dirs. Jenny Stein & James LaVeck US 2004
This documentary
from the award-winning directors of The Witness exposes the excesses
and inequities of factory farms where animals are treated as commodities.
Peaceable Kingdom explores the interconnected life journeys of farm animals,
former farmers and animal rescuers struggling against an out of
control industrial system. Peaceable Kingdom highlights Lorri
and Gene Bauston, the founders of Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen,
N.Y., the nation's largest refuge for abused and neglected farm
animals. With SARS, Mad Cow and Bird Flu in the news, the public
is more concerned than ever about the health and environmental
problems associated with large-scale factory farming.
Speakers at the evening screenings. (77m)
