| Intermission |
Dir.John Crowley Ireland 2004
Intermission is the anti Love
Actually and Notting Hill. Eleven different plotlines intersect,
and it all begins when John (Cillian Murphy of 28 Days Later) suggests
to his girlfriend Diedre (Kelly Macdonald) that they take a break from
their relationship. Thrown into the mix are John's best friend and
fellow grocerey store stocker, Oscar (Dave Wilmot) who is
insecure with the ladies; Diedre's bitter sister Sally
(Shirely Henderson) who wears a perpetual scowl behind her
moustache; bad-boy two-bit theif Lehiff (Colin Farrell);
and Jerry (Colm Meaney) an egotistical detective who's
after Lehiff. Many other characters are interwoven into the
plot which effortlessly interconnects everyone in a less
than happily-ever-after romantic comedy way.
Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts need not apply. (106m)
