| The American Astronaut |
Dir.Cory McAbee US 2001
SF ex-pat and Billy Nayer Show frontman,
Cory Mc-Abee's The Amer-ican Astronaut is a wildly audacious
debut feature. Combining elements from the musical, the western
and cheesy sci-fi, McAbee stars as space cowboy Samuel Curtis,
whose intergalactic travels put him in contact with many strange characters.
If Kubrik's 2001 was directed by David Lynch & Jim Jarmusch,
you might get something like The American Astronaut. Shot in
high contrast black & white and featuring low-tech special effects,
refreshing in this day of over-the-top digital manipulations,
The American Astronaut is destined
to be a cult classic. With the music/performance-art collective The Billy Nayer Show. (94m)
