| Rock 'n Roll High School |
Dir. Allan Arkush US 1979
The Ramones are one of the most beloved bands from
the late 70's & early 80's New York punk scene. With such continued staying
power, and with the recent death of Dee Dee, it is a pleasure to screen this
long-out-of-release classic. Vince Lombardi High School has quite a reputation:
it's the wildest, most rockin' high school around. Teenager Riff Randell (PJ Soles)
is crazy about rock n' roll, especially the Ramones. Then along comes an
uptight principal, Miss Togar (Mary Woronov) who tries to make the school
a totalitarian state. The conflict escalates until the entire school, with
the help of the
Ramones, battle Miss Togar's iron-fisted rule in a climatic and explosive finale. (93m)
