| The Last Waltz |
Dir. Martin Scorsese US 1978
One of the greatest live performances ever filmed, The Last Waltz chronicles
The Band's last concert at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom on Thanksgiving
Day in 1975. The Band was best known as Bob Dylan's back-up
band when he went electric, and were much admired by critics,
musicians and a small but loyal fan base. Scorsese interweaves
extraordinary performances and candid interviews with the members
of The Band (Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Richard Manuel,
Rick Danko and Garth Hudson). One of the most beautifully
shot concert films of all time. Featuring Bob Dylan,
Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, The Staple
Singers, Eric Clapton and Muddy Waters. (117m)
