Director David Gordon Green (George Washington) again delivers a
gritty yet lyrical look at blue-collar life in All the Real Girls.
Noel (Zooey Deschanel) is an 18-year-old virginal good girl who
falls hard for one of her older brother's friends, 22-year-old Paul
(Paul Schneider). Paul has a reputation as the most notorious womanizer
in town, but seems to honestly have deep feelings for Noel and is
uninterested in making her just his latest conquest. The two lovers
scramble away to secret hide outs whispering their longings for each
other and their dreams of a shared future. Splendor in the Grass by
way of Terence Malick, All the Real Girls may have come off as a
cliched love story in the hands of a lesser filmmaker but under the
assured hand of Green it is an achievement of startling intimacy. (108m)
