Breathless
Dir. Jean Luc Godard France 1959
Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg play the lovers from different worlds living on the edge in Paris. The film that kickstarted the French New Wave movement, Breathless was not only seminal in its filmmaking techniques, in particular the use of jump-cuts and hand-held camera, but it also introduced us to Belmondo's gangster pout and Seberg's boho waif look that have permeated our culture. (subtitled; 89m)
