Dir. Stephen Soderbergh US 2001
Soderbergh (Sex, Lies and Videotape, Traffic) packs this ensemble
cast film with enough star power to either light Las Vegas's neon
for a year or to send an issue of People to press - take your pick.
Like the rat pack in the 1960 original, it's obvious that they had a
blast making the movie, but this version departs by having a cast
with real acting abilities. George Clooney stars as Danny Ocean,
a recently paroled thief, who has masterminded a plan to knock
off three casinos for a cool 150 million. Unknown to his gang
he additionally plans to steal back his ex-wife (Julia Roberts)
from a slicker-than-Teflon casino mogul (Andy Garcia). Also in
on the caper are Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Elliot Gould,
Carl Reiner, Bernie Mac, et al. (116m)
