Dir. Stacy Peralta US 2002
A chronicle of the origins of 70's SoCal skateboard culture.
A ragged clan of multi-ethnic kids from Dogtown, a rundown section of
Santa Monica and Venice (known as Z-Boys, after their hangout, the Zephyr Surf Shop)
take to the streets with their homemade skateboards. Peralta combines interviews with original
Dogtowners and archival footage to create a spectacular and informative look at how
a cultural phenomenon was created. Narrated by Sean Penn. (90m)
