Dir. Patricia Cardoso US 2002 Winner of the Audience Award at Sundance, this effervescent film revolves around Anna, a graduating high school senior who must decide what path to take next. Growing up in East L.A. (glowingly captured in all it's warmth and color) has determined the fate of her siblings. She is expected to go to work at her sister's dress factory. Anna waits to hear from Columbia University about her college application and while at the factory finds ways to help herself and the women workers accept their larger-than-Barbie body size. (90 m) |
