| Shattered Glass |
Dir. Billy Ray US 2003
Shattered Glass is based on a Vanity Fair article about Stephen Glass, the 24-year-old whiz-kid-writer for the New Republic, the official magazine for Airforce One. Glass (Hayden Christensen) is a self-centered, over-achiever obsessed with winning the approval of his coworkers. He specialized in bringing flashiness to an otherwise staid journal. One article about a hacker's convention caught the attention of an on-line computer magazine. Adam Pennenberg (Steve Zahn), a competitor starts to investigate the story in the guise of writing a follow-up piece and finds that the whole story is fiction. What follows is a shocking account of how one writer was able to fabricate story after story (21 out of 47) for one of the most respected magazines in the industry. With Peter Sarsgaard and Chloe Sevigny (103m)
