The Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter
Dirs.David & Albert Maysle, Charlotte Zwerin US 1970
Gimme Shelter captures an historic moment that marked the end of an era and the disillusionment of a whole generation. The free Rolling Stones concert on Dec.6,1969, was attended by a crowd of over 300,000. Members of the Hell's Angels were hired to "...help maintain order" but instead an atmosphere of fear and dread developed which ultimately lead to the tragic death of a fan. What began as a love-in degenerated into violence, and the end of flower power. (95m)
