Dir. Jay Duplass US 2005 The Puffy Chair, a low-budget relationship/road movie, marks the beginning of some fine careers for the director and actors of this unique indie film which is chock full of funny and poignant moments as well as first-rate performances. Josh (Mark Duplass) is a failed New York musician trying to find a way to shake up his life. He finds a giant purple La-Z-Boy on Ebay, just like the one from his childhood, and decides to drive cross-country and deliver it to his father as a surprise birthday gift. Complications set in when his girlfriend Emily (Kathryn Aselton) wants to come along and talk about their "Relationship." Also along for the ride is Josh's immature younger brother, Rhett (Rhett Wilkins), and the result is a journey that takes a backseat to the life-lessons learned.(85m) |
