Guy Madden US/Canada 2006 Cult Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin (The Saddest Music in the World) offers a breathtaking glimpse into a demented and phantasmagoric world of lurid melodrama. In this modern-day silent film, shot in moody black-and-white and narrated by Isabella Rossellini, Maddin presents a fictionalized version of himself and his extremely odd (to say the least) childhood. Guy returns home to the family lighthouse (which doubled as an orphanage), and memories flood over him about strange events which transpired when the orphans developed mysterious head wounds. Renowned teen detectives Wendy and Chance Hale, a brother and sister team, show up to investigate. Guy falls for Wendy, while Sis develops a crush on Chance (or does she?)
