The Judd Apatow comedy factory (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up) strikes again. Struggling musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) has his hangdog world turned upside down when he is dumped (while in full frontal mode) by his TV star girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu only to be horrified by unexpectedly meeting up with his ex and her new British-rocker boyfriend. However, relief comes in the form of a flirtation with a bubbly resort employee, Rachel, (Mila Kunis), along with a great many fruity cocktails. Other members of the Apatow comedy troupe - Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill and Bill Hader (Superbad) - appear in supporting roles. All in all, the mortifying zany set-ups, raunchy ripostes and oddball characters add up to comic gold. (112m)
