Special Panel of FCCFree Radio staff to follow 2:00 show!!
Pirate Radio
Dir. Richard Curtis UK/ Germany 2009
This high-spirited comedy is set in the 1960’s and is based on a very real premise – back in the heyday of Rock the staid BBC only played about a half-hour of Rock ‘n Roll a day. As a result, a number of pirate radio stations sprouted on ships located offshore. The captain of the fictional ship featured here is Quentin (Bill Nighy) and The Count (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is the station’s sole American among a ragtag crew of DJs. Meanwhile, an uptight government minister (Kenneth Branagh) is hellbent on shutting them down. Director Curtis (Love Actually) manages to keep a variety of frantic plot lines going simultaneously and the rockin’ soundtrack contains a laundry list of the top bands of the day, including the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, Hendrix, the Who, Cream, Jeff Beck, the Beach Boys and the Yardbirds. This movie rocks! (116m)

FCCFreeRadio.com and Indy Arts and Media present a panel on LPFM radio (often called pirate radio) after the 2:00 screening, during which FCCFree Radio staff will share their stories and answer questions!
