| A Red Vic Classic |
| Small Change |
Dir. Francois Truffaut France 1976
One of Truffaut’s most personal films, this cinema classic celebrates the world of childhood through a series of loosely connected vignettes set in a small, picturesque French town. We meet a group of kids who capture our hearts, including brothers who give a friend a haircut, boys and girls on an their first double date, a strong-willed girl who mobilizes her neighbors when her parents leave her home alone, and the enigmatic, solitary Julien. Truffaut returns to the subject matter he explored in The 400 Blows, this time with a lighter touch, but with the same keen eye for childhood’s intense joys and sorrows. The Red Vic played this on our very first calendar 30 years ago! and we are delighted to again be presenting this cinematic gem to Bay Area audiences. (104m)
