| Arab Film Festival co-presents Palestine Cinema: A Palestinian Shorts Program |
This international collection of short films highlights the diversity of Palestinians living at home and abroad. The evening will feature selections from the Arab Film Festival, including: Lesh Sabreen? (Dir. Muayad Alayan, 2008) a tale of 2 young lovers confronting the limits of culture and society in modern-day Jerusalem; Swesh Swesh (Dir. Riyad Deis) which follows a Palestinian farmer and his family whose lives are turned upside down when a resistance fighter hides out in their small town; Arafat and I(Dir. Madhi Fleifel, 2008;), a quirky Seinfeld-esque short; Be Quiet (Dir. Sameh Zoabi, 2005) which chronicles the travails of a young boy and his father on the return trip to Israel from a funeral in Palestine; Gaza London (Dir. Dima Hamdan). A massive Israeli assault is launched in the Gaza Strip. Mahmoud is in London, his mother is in Gaza, and he is desperately awaiting her call. Fatenah (Ahmed Habash, 2010). The story of a Palestinian woman's journey of torment, loss and pain, living with cancer in Gaza. Producers and writers of Lesh Sabreen will appear in person for Q&A.
